Ben L. Harbin Mr. Harbin is director of Business Development for Select Benefit Consultants. He holds an insurance license in life, health, property and casualty and variable annuities. Mr. Harbin has been in the insurance and employee benefits industry for ten years. Mr. Harbin is also a partner in the surveying and mapping firm of Harbin and Associates, where he has marketing and financial oversight responsibilities. Mr. Harbin is presently serving in the Georgia House of Representatives representing District 113 in Columbia County. Education Mr. Harbin is a graduate of Georgia Military College where he received the Graduate of Distinction Seal for his major in Business Administration. He has completed several courses in insurance, risk management, and employee benefits, including a number of courses toward the designation of Chartered Financial Consultant. Professional Background Mr. Harbin joined the Farm Bureau Insurance Companies in 1988 as a Sales Agent. In 1989, Mr. Harbin, along with a business partner, established Harbin and Associates, a surveying and mapping firm focusing on commercial and residential surveying. In 1992 he established The Harbin Company, an employee benefits firm specializing in health and life insurance. Mr. Harbin and Mr. Lee established Select Benefit Consultants, Inc. in 1996 through the merger of their respective employee benefits companies. Select Benefit Consultants specializes in employee benefit communications and consulting. Personal and Civic Mr. Harbin resides in Evans, Georgia with his wife Hope, their daughter and son. He was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives in 1994 where he serves on the Appropriations, Insurance, and Reapportionment Committees. He serves on the Boards of the Columbia County Foundation for Children, Crossroads Academy Alternative School, and the University Hospital Health Care Foundation. He also serves on the Governmental Affairs and Economic Development Committee and the Tourism Committee of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Augusta Kiwanis and the Martinez-Evans Optimist Club. |
